The Apple Watch Triathlete Newsletter
Weekly insights, stories, and news for runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes who have an Apple Watch.
When my 84-year-old father got his first Apple Watch (it was a gift of a series 4 when I bought my series 5) he delighted in having the Micky Mouse watch face, and then tentatively asking people:
“Excuse me, would you like to know what time it is?”
He would then tap Micky so all could hear that squeaky voice read the time aloud. It was quite funny (at first).
That’s probably a great use of Apple Watch (at first) but perhaps sells its capabilities a little short. It can actually do a lot more than that.
I know this because I have had every version of Apple Watch and have used it daily for training for various events ranging from running the London Marathon, swimming 10k down the river Dart, cycling coast to coast across the Pyrenees, and completing IronMan Wales; I wrote about this over on my blog at theAppleWatchTriathlete.com. I even wrote a book on it which you can get for free here.
Now that I am targeting IronMan Barcelona in 2022, with various events along the way, and now that I am getting deep into structured training again with either Apple Watch series 6 or a series 5 constantly on my wrist (I still find it compelling though extravagant to have two Apple Watches) I will be writing a weekly update of this adventure, keeping you updated on my progress (or not), and reviewing the latest apps and equipment that I am using (or not) along the way. It should be a blast.
I hope you’ll join me!
Programming note: This weekly newsletter will remain free for the foreseeable. If there seems to be enough demand then I will launch a paid subscription with an additional two posts a week for subscribers. If you would like to support me now, you can still opt for the paid subscription for the single weekly newsletter which would be incredibly nice and generous of you 🙏
Cheers!
